Derek J. Smith
Director, The Experience Center
Derek J. Smith serves as the Director of the Experience Center at the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). As the Director, Derek focuses on emerging platforms and evolving consumer behaviors to help the advertising industry understand and reach the new media consumer.
Derek has 20+ years of experience in the educational and nonprofit industries. As an Experiential Educator, Derek utilizes his experiences to encourage innovation through the creation of technology-forward programs, leadership development workshops, writing and teaching curricula, organizational operations, and serving others! Derek has served ans Adjunct Professor at the University of New Haven, where he taught Esports Basics, an introductory course to the world of esports.
Derek has a Bachelor’s in Communication, a Master’s in Educational Counseling, and will attain a Master’s in Esports Business and Management from the University of New Haven in July. Derek enjoys spending time with his three children, designing bowties, and simracing on the weekends.
