Director of Content

Kevin Mitchell

Kevin Mitchell has spent the last 20 years focused on the intersection of gaming, music, film, TV, and technology. After achieving several Grammy Award nominations and winning a Billboard Award as a music executive, Mitchell noticed that technology was disrupting consumers consumption habits so he transitioned into the immersive experience sector of the entertainment business. This passion for convergence leads Kevin to become one of the driving forces to bring the business of competitive video gaming into the classrooms and launching an esports program in the Sports Communications Department at Emerson College.

As one of the first esports professors in the US, Kevin strives to bring esports to the main stage in American culture by integrating some of Emerson’s key academic strengths in visual arts, media, content creation, production and journalism with real-time experiential learning derived through his day to day role as Director of Business Development for National Amusements, the parent company of Viacom, CBS and Showcase Cinemas. Kevin is an educator on a mission to enlighten the next generation of high school on the incredible job opportunities that exist within the fastest growing vertical in entertainment. Mitchell’s industry-leading esports curriculum and innovative learning initiatives will only be available to a few selective high school students at America’s first pre-college esports program at Emerson College. Mitchell has been quoted in NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Herald, USA Today,, ESPN, Fox Business and featured in a Boston Fox25 news story about the emergence of esports.
